Have a Go at

Drypoint Etching

Saturday May 31

10am to 1pm  £60

In our 'HAVE A GO' at Drypoint workshop you will learn how to use our tools with confidence and how to ink up a plate and prepare your paper for printing. You will also have time to practice and experiment with textures to get different effects in your prints and you to design and print an etching of your own to take home. For those with previous experience, we can help you refresh your skills in this session, and you are welcome to spend the time working on your own project.

Drypoint etching is an Intaglio printmaking process. It involves cutting into the surface of a plate with an etching needle. This raises a burr, which holds the ink after the rest of the plate has been wiped clean. Prints produced from this process have a soft-edged line which tends to appeal to those of us who like fine detail but, as a technique, Drypoint etching can also be used to create amazing graphic images.

We do not use chemicals in our process and our ink is oil-based but water washable. We use Perspex for our plate.
